Though some things in daily life are unpredictable such as the weather, climate or world news, we can still find gratitude. Spending time with family and friends at the club is a good way to connect, exercise and feel rejuvenated.
Thank you to those who attended our June summer workshop series and especially the instructors who gave time and energy to create a new class. All of our certified fitness instructors are required to keep up with continuing education credits whether it’s study online or attending in-person conferences. We all benefit from learning something new! Summer workshops help determine the level of interest in new/other formats that may appear in our fall programming.
If you are interested in weekday classes at 7am, 4pm or 7pm, I would love to hear from you. Please email dallis@bovswim.com.
Trends in fitness this year have included more functional strength and mobility, mental wellness strategies, social connection, and powerful multi-joint exercises that challenge endurance and coordination. More classes are focusing on “primal movement patterns” which include: squat, lunge, push, pull, rotate, hinge/bend, plank and gait pattern. These are activities we need for our ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living).
Whatever exercise you enjoy is the exercise you should do and, as we say in the fitness industry,
“motion is lotion!”

Kidfit is on hiatus this summer, but we will offer one more workshop on Saturday, July 26th @ 10am for Kidfit Summer Day (kids aged 4–11yrs). This special class will be full of fun activities and games prepared by teacher, Mary Kate—and there may be a few prizes! Come and test out your “Wacky Olympics” that day and celebrate with your Kidfit teammates. Limited to 12 participants and family members are welcome to watch.
Don’t forget to heed these summertime health and fitness tips:
Prioritize hydration and drink plenty of fluids
Protect yourself from the sun (sunscreen and hat)
Adjust your workout times to avoid heat-related illness
Wear light-colored, light-weight and breathable clothing
Maintain a balanced diet including fruit, vegetables, lean protein
As a reminder, there will be no classes held on July 4th.
I hope to see you in class soon,
Dallis Wright-Morash
